Missions Training Centre (MTC) is a mission training initiative of the  Springs of Life Global Evangelistic Ministry(SOL). MTC equips believers in all sectors of Life on how they can adequately and effectively carry out the Great Commission anywhere they find themselves. It is run by our educational missions division and falls under its spiritual department. It has two sub sectors:

1) MTC Tertiary: It  offers training in cross-cultural evangelism for students in tertiary institutions.

2)MTC Professionals: It offers training for business executives, lecturers, secondary school teachers, pastors and service men, in Intercultural studies and evangelism.

Background of MTC tertiary 

The Missions Training Centre started in the year 2018 as a eight weeks onsite training course  for students in tertiary institution, with the Federal University of Agriculture ( Funaab) , as its take off point. It is now a six weeks training programme. After the training, there is a 5 days ( optional) practical experience in a SOL mission field for those who wants to be certified.

 

Due to several university strikes , we saw the need to take the training online, so that students could go on with their training irrespective of school closure. This migration have helped expanded the area of reach for the programme, from reaching two institutions initially, we now have tertiary participants from eight institutions (and still counting). The online training broke the distance barrier and its ease allowed us to introduce the professional version of the training during the Covid period.

 

So far four sets of tertiary institution students have graduated from the Missions Training Center. The Course highlights are frontier evangelism, global prayers, and short-term mission field experience.

 

Impact of MTC tertiary

Graduates from MTC have found the training instrumental in their quest to know the Lord and expand the kingdom of God. Several of these students have gone on to become full time missionaries after their graduation, some working with SOL. Others are workplace apostles / bi-vocational missionaries. Also students who have attended the training and yet to graduate find it pleasurable to spend their breaks on SOL  mission fields.

 

Background of MTC professionals

The Professionals version of our MTC Training began in 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic when there was a global lockdown. We felt the times allowed for professionals; business executives, career men and women, and ministers of the Gospel the time to focus on the unchanging eternal mission of the church- missions. We were right. Over fifty career persons, business executives and several ministers of the gospel enrolled for the course and a quarter of the number made it for the practical session of the course after the Covid lockdowns.

 

Rather than a let down, Interest in the course  has only heightened after Covid. A six weeks online course with flexibility with time, is easy for everyone to catch up with training and learn. So far three sets of Professionals have graduated from the Missions Training Center.

 

Impact of MTC professionals

This training has played a vital role in the lives of participants in fulfilling the Great Commission where they are, as some have reported finding it easier to share the gospel with their colleagues. Many have taken an active role in missions as intercessors and financial supporters. A few have spent part of their leave on the mission field with us as well.

MTC will also kick-off in Benin Republic as well. Our tertiary training focus will be for students who attend the two government universities; Universite Abomey- Calavi, and The University of Parakou. It will be on-site training for now, and thereafter it will follow the online format in Nigeria.
