CORE VALUES
In SOL, our core values articulate for us the good deposit that is the core of our identity and how we do ministry. Whether we are building a discipleship group, planting a new church, teaching in our educational schools etc, our core values help describe who we are and how we build.
LORDSHIP
Because Jesus is “King of kings and Lord of lords,” we believe that whole-hearted submission to God’s will and his Word is the starting point of faith and the foundation of all spiritual growth ( Colossians 2 v 6)
discipleship
Because we’re called to make disciples, our primary focus is establishing biblical foundations, equipping believers to minister, and empowering disciples to make disciples. Matthew 28 : 19 – 20.
EVANGELISM
Because God’s heart is to reach the lost, we are passionate about preaching the gospel and doing ministry in a way that engages people outside of the Christian faith. We seek to build churches primarily through evangelizing areas where no churches previously exist, and in areas that can act as catalyst for the fulfilment of the Great Commission ( even in such areas, we seek conversion rather than transfer growth, birth rather adoption). John 3 :16; Luke 19:10
cross-cultural
Cross-cultural means we take into congnisance, the language, ethnos and culture of a people and place. We recognise that to reach the unreached and to touch the untouched we will need to be cross-cultural in our evangelism and discipleship. The vision of God’s kingdom is multi-cultural ( Revelation 7:9), SOL seeks to do its part towards the realization.
leadership
Because we’re called to establish churches and start schools( in areas where such do not exist), we are committed to a culture of empowering leadership. We’re intentionally multi-generational, and we deliberately create opportunities and platforms to develop the next generation of leaders. 2 Timothy 2 : 2.
family
Because the family is the foundation and validation of ministry, we refuse to sacrifice our marriages and our children on the altars of temporal success. And because we believe God has called us to be a spiritual family, we embrace community, reject the idea of disposable relationships, and choose to walk in love, respect, and unity. Psalm 127 : 1 – 3.
socially responsible
Our love for Jesus and our compassion for people compel us to be socially responsible, which includes addressing social injustice, developing people to a point of self-reliance, and providing emergency relief. We always desire spiritual transformation through the gospel. The following scriptures form our grid for social responsibility: Micah 6 : 8, Matthew 25 :35,40, Ephesians 2 :10, Matthew 5:13-15
